June 2005 ORCHARD BOOKS
PLASTIC ANGEL
by Nerissa Nields
Mini CD included!

A funny, poignant first novel by an acclaimed
singer-songwriter about friendship, music and being true to
who you are -- even if it means disappointing your parents
and everyone around you.

Angela has been a model-actress all her life. She's mom's pride and joy, the celebri-toast of her town. No one ever asked "Gellie" whether she liked being a model, how she felt about going on auditions instead of participating in school activities. No one ever noticed that she had no friends. If kids at school made fun of her, she never complained. She's always been a sweet and obedient cipher, a plastic angel.

Gellie is thirteen now and has made her first real friend. Randi "gets" Gellie, and helps her discover talents she didn't know she had. Like singing. And songwriting. And being in a band. And...not modeling or acting. Gellie's mom has landed her daughter a major motion picture. Gellie's got to choose --- and someone's gonna lose.

NERISSA NIELDS is a singer-songwriter and Plastic Angel is her first book. Performing with her sister, Katryna, The Nields are most famous for the songs, Gotta Get Over Greta -- about friendship -- and This Town Is Wrong, on which Plastic Angel is based. In the course of writing her novel, Nerissa composed an entire soundtrack CD. This Town Is Wrong was released in January 2004, on Rounder Records. A mini-CD will be packed into the book. Nerissa lives in Northampton, Massachusetts and plans to tour to promote this book.
